A stone is rated “indoor use” on the data sheet. Nobody checks how it behaves in tropical humidity at 85% for six months of the year until it's already been ordered, shipped, and installed — and the data sheet, it turns out, was tested somewhere with winter.

A spec sheet is a starting question, not a finished answer. Research is where we ask it properly, before the material has a chance to fail quietly, later, somewhere expensive.
