Most warranties promise vaguely — “quality workmanship,” “industry standard.” Nobody can measure a sentence like that against anything. Ours points at an object: the specimen you personally approved, still in the archive, still comparable to the wall in front of you, years later.

The approved specimen is kept for the life of the project specifically so that "guaranteed" never has to rely on anyone's memory of what was promised. It relies on an object that hasn't changed.
